Pepsi Throwback becomes permanent
http://consumerist.com/2011/03/pepsi-mountain-dew-throwback-become-permanent.html

I don't drink a lot of soda, I prefer juice or tea, also putting the HFCS issue aside, I think soda just tastes better with real sugar.

1. I agree real sugar makes soda better
I don't drink it thought often either and I do prefer coke but maybe they will bring back sugar to coke as well.

3. We have cane sugar sweetened Coke out here.
There have been a good many real-sugar reissues here.

Big difference.

But I stick to bourbon and good wines.

5. Sierra Mist is now using real sugar.
Its called Sierra Mist Natural. Doesn't have that syrupy aftertaste that HFCS usually leaves you.

8. Good news! I really wish they would put it in bottles as well as cans.
I don't need to drink a whole can at a time. I want my pepsi to have fizz for at least the next two or three days.

10. Wouldn't be surprised if they don't do that too with the timing of their other announcement...

... of bottles being used made totally from plants. It would seem fitting to have the throwback drink in a totally plant-made bottle to be a *completely natural* soft drink experience, as I would expect them to advertise it.

I did see Costco a few weeks appear to "experiment" putting some Mexican Pepsi bottle cases on the shelf (with real sugar). Haven't seen them since then though. If I buy colas I buy the Mexican cokes at Costco which are stocked there regularly.

12. Our Costco carries it regularly.
We buy a case every month or two. Having a sugar Coke in a glass bottle is a serious treat!

13. I am drining a pepsi throwback right now.
Some Krogers in Houston carry them.

Real Coke with sugar is for sale in a lot of places.

Pepsi may want some of that market.

15. I Love Pepsi Throwback!
I like it way better than regular Pepsi. As for the Throwback version of Mountain Dew, I find it impossible to tell the difference between the regular and the throwback. I generally drink Diet Pepsi and Diet Mountain Dew (one of only two diet sodas that taste almost identical to the regular versions--the other being Diet Dr. Pepper) most of the time anyway, but sometimes I do like to treat myself to "the hard stuff."
