Obama Readies for Battle: EPA Vs. GOP Global Warming Deniers
Obama Readies for Battle: EPA Vs. GOP Global Warming Deniers

December 24, 2010

(ChattahBox Political News)—The Obama administration armed with scientific facts on the dangers of man-made global warming, is readying for a battle of epic proportions with the anti-science, global warming-denying crew of Republicans poised to take over the majority of the House in January. On one side is scientific report, after scientific report, warning of the catastrophic dangers of unchecked global warming, including massive flooding, deadly storms, drought and food shortages, not to mention the poisonous smog and pollution.

On the Republican side, is a blind refusal to accept the existence of man-made climate change, because their big-polluting corporate masters will fight against any government regulations that may eat into their profits, and the environment and the future of our planet be damned.

6. I believe the Obama Administration is going to do what they can through the EPA and skip dealing
with Congress.

House Republicans will freak and hearings, along with trying to attach limitations to the EPA's regulatory activities in legislation they pass (which the Senate can ignore or the WH could veto), etc.

There may be enough coal & oil state Dems that align with the Republicans against the Obama Administration to pass some of those limitations - Manchin, Rockefeller, Landrieu, maybe Begich in Alaska.

It'll be interesting. :)

7. This is the most critical battle he could ever fight...
...and the biggest long-term impact on the planet that he will leave to future generations. He's got to put every resource into this. Wishing him victory!

8. The good/bad news is that it will be increasingly difficult for the deniers
to deny we are experiencing climate change... esp given the extreme weather of the last month experienced globally. Snow during the Australian summer to record snows in Europe and of course the severe rain/mud in LA... Morans!

And welcome to DU! :hi:

9. welcome to DU, and... I think most of us were hoping for this battle

It will come down to fact based reasoning by logical well qualified scientists and a bunch of people either paid by polluters or claiming the Bible says it isn't so.

The problem is that both sides think they can win, maybe we are wrong. It is entirely possible that the majority of the country will reject fact based reasoning and go with the crazies.

I, for one, welcome our new insane overlords.
