Anti-war groups protest against anti-Gaddafi air strikes
Small group of protesters demonstrate outside Downing Street calling for end to military intervention in Libya

Shouting "Hands off Libya" and waving placards stating "The lessons of Iraq and Afghanistan have not been learnt", a small but passionate group of anti-war protesters made their stand outside Downing Street.

The disgust and anger felt by those opposing the air strikes was spelled out by MP Jeremy Corbyn and former MP George Galloway, the chair of CND, Kate Hudson, and the convenor of the Stop the War Coalition, Lindsey German.

"The stench of hypocrisy around this war is unbelievable," said Corbyn.

"This war is about oil, control and a message to the rest of the world and region that we can do it if we want to. I fear we will soon be involved in a ground war, the partition of Libya and the theft of that country's oil and resources.

4. They are protesting their own government's actions. What's so hard to understand?
The right-wingers also said "where were these anti-Iraq war protesters when Saddam was killing Kurds? They were OK with that then." Same disjointed and McCarthyite logic.

6. The Libyans are prtesting their governments drive to murder them...
The protstors in England didn't seem to give a fuck about them. Dead civilians in Libya can take care of themsleves I suppose. Now that is right wing thinking, utter devoid of any sense of ethics.

7. So the Iraq war opponents didn't care about the Iraqi people?
I don't think so. I support self-determination for Libya, free from US interference.

8. the reasons for going into IRaq were WMD , and the story changed a bunch of times
and it was all based on lies.

the same is not true with Libya . you can oppose what we are doing in Libya but it's not the same as how we went into iraq.
