So, what is Obama's economic plan after the stimulus ends?
Edited on Wed Mar-30-11 07:21 AM by reformist2
The three-year stimulus that averted a total economic meltdown is almost used up. So what's Obama's plan going forward? Does he even have one???

It's not as if employment or consumer sentiment has rebounded enough for this recovery to be self-sustaining.. In fact, they never really rebounded much at all...

In a word, I'm worried.

the "new normal" so I'm not looking for that to happen. We might get enough to slow the bleeding with any luck.

14. that seems to be the plan
but with three wars, tax cuts to the wealthy, a hostile house, and a very vocal base of Americans hell bent on falling on their sword to save the ultra rich, I don't see how Obama does it.

15. Now see,you certainly have
a good grasp of the problem. However the way I see it is Obama is aligned with that "very vocal base of Americans hell bent on falling on their sword to save the ultra rich"

7. I think he answered that question when he gave the Republicans
their tax cuts and of course there are the coming cuts in "entitlement programs" that I fear he will cave on.

8. The tax cuts are what boosted the stock market....
...but I can't think of anything they're doing to actually help create jobs. I guess we're supposed to wait around for the rich people to create them.

10. The way I see it the reason tax cuts boosted the stock market
is it creates even more debt which devalues the dollar. The dollar is worth less in other words (inflation) everything goes up food, gasoline, utilities, materials, stocks etc. So the stock market hasn't gone up it just takes more dollars to buy a share of stock.

9. The problem with the stimulus
Edited on Wed Mar-30-11 09:29 AM by Siouxmealso
is that it was used to save or create goverment jobs in hopes that would keep the economy afloat until the private sector kicked in. But now that the stimulus phase is over, there's still no new long-term private sector jobs out there and we're on the hook for these government jobs but with no tax revenue to pay for them. We're screwed. It was like eating your seed corn.

Edited on Wed Mar-30-11 09:50 AM by doc03
for the stimulus. The trouble with the stimulus was much of it was given away in tax cuts and very little actually went to infrastructure. I received $400 in 2009 and $311 in 2010 for making work pay, I didn't need it I was working.
