Jon Stewart Was NOT Impressed With President Obama’s Libya Speech
Edited on Wed Mar-30-11 12:30 PM by The Northerner
Jon Stewart had some fun at President Obama’s expense last night, dissecting and mocking his speech and the media reaction to it. Stewart wasn’t sure why Obama seemed angry about having to explain America’s intervention in Libya? He also wondered whether America handing control of the operation to NATO is really a big deal if America is the one who largely funds and controls NATO? Stewart humorously compared it to being as if singer Beyonce gave control to her temporary alter-ego “Sasha Fierce.”

Also mocked was Wolf Blitzer for being eager to try and label Obama’s speech as the beginning of the new “Obama Doctrine.” And in an effort to demonstrate that Obama isn’t unique in justifying intervention to stop a crisis in one country, while atrocities take place elsewhere, Stewart played clips from many past presidents showing that their rhetoric didn’t necessarily match their actions either. Although the loudest laugh came at the end, when Stewart played a clip of Sarah Palin trying to describe the “skirmish” in Libya, but saying the word “squirmish” instead.

Watch the clip from Comedy Central below:

2. He gave the speach for the low information/neandrethal voters....
Our hypocrisy was on parade, but that of the Republics was shattered.

However, I would very much like our next President to be (D)-teh peoples than (D)-corporate,

5. You mean, for people who can't spell "speech" or "neanderthal"?
I think his speech was aimed at people who can't make the distinction between the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq; and the limited NATO-controlled, UN-approved intervention in Libya that was requested by the Libyan people themselves.

4. Well, I haven't been impressed with Stewart for a VERY long time either...
First it was his equating Rachel Maddow to the thugs of Fox 'News'. Then it was palling around with Donald Rumsfeld like he was just any other guest; Stewart cowardly any question that may have been offending to this war criminal. Then it were his stupid remarks about Obama when the intervention in Libya began. And now he's mocking Obama for handling this situation extremely well in the first legitimate military intervention the US has undertaken since Kosovo?!

If anybody knows a bus with enough place left, I'll gladly throw him under it.
