Survey: Obama's approval rating at all-time low 42 percent
By Shane D'Aprile - TheHill
03/30/11 06:50 AM ET

<snip>

President Obama's approval rating has hit an all-time low, according to a new poll from Quinnipiac University. The survey measured Obama's approval at just 42 percent, with 48 percent of voters disapproving of the job he's doing in office.

Fifty percent of voters surveyed believe the president does not deserve election to a second term next year — just 41 percent said he does. The 42 percent approval number marks a four percentage-point drop over the past month. A Q-poll released March 3 had Obama at 46 percent approval; 45 percent of voters said he didn't deserve a second term. Obama is now in a dead heat with a generic Republican challenger, trailing an unamed Republican in a hypothetical 2012 match-up 36 percent to 37 percent.

"President Barack Obama's approval numbers are at their lowest level ever, slightly below where they were for most of 2010 before he got a bump up in surveys after the November election and into the early part of this year," said Peter Brown, assistant director at the Quinnipiac Polling Institute.

Brown pointed to Obama's overall negatives on the deficit, economy, foreign policy and healthcare as driving up his disapproval numbers. The poll also gave Obama negative ratings on the military action in Libya. Overall, voters oppose the nation's involvement in Libya — 47 percent to 41 percent — and a full 58 percent said Obama has not clearly articulated the goal of U.S. involvement.

1. The new Associated Press poll has Obama at 53 approve, 45 disapprove
It all depends on what poll you are looking at and what day.

4. I've never had any use for The Hill
I've never seen anything credible from them.

Not happy with the POTUS...but other sources have his approval rating higher.

9. All of these "polls" are smelling like BS.
I'm pretty disappointed in the admin. But these up then down polls make me wonder what exactly is being asked, who is being asked, and what those people THINK they are being asked.

I give Obama a 40% rating. And while I don't really want to tell him to continue disappointing me on 60% of the issues, does my concern mean I'll vote for the knuckledrag party?

Relax. For worse as well as MUCH better, he's a two-termer.

10. I will support ANY primary challenger to the left of Obama.
If defections like that cause Obama to lose in 2012, it will be his own damn fault. All he had to do to keep folks like me content was do what he promised he would.

But NOOOoooooooooo!

Obama should have ignored Congress and passed all the laws himself....that way he would not have to deal with the DINOs, repubs doing everything they could to make Obama fail, 24/7 fillubuster, and the other spineless dems in congress....you see this is all Obama's fault....even though many of the things Obama wanted was impossible to get through congress because of the reasons mentioned above, it's Obama's fault 24/7 here at good ol DU! How dare Obama not get everything done that he said he would get done during a 4 year term in just 2 years....yes, I know Obama told me during the 2008 campaign that change happens in baby steps and can take a long time but I go out of my way to forget that and hold Obama to a different standard. Bill Clinton was far more right than Obama and there was never a peep from the left about a primary challenge...different standard for different kinds of folks!

15. He should have fought and lost
Instead he lied, and spun. He is to the right of Nixon, Ford and Eisenhower. Let him continue to seek his votes among Fox viewers. I will not vote for him again. I also will not persuade people to vote for him again.

17. I actually told my husband last night that if Mitt Romney runs, I'll vote for him.
Ok. Maybe I wouldn't go that far, but Mitt always seemed fairly moderate to me. Not sure if I could vote for him, though, if it looks like Senate would go R, too.

24. That's incorrect. On 03.01.11, the Senate approved by unanimous consent a resolution on Libya.
SRes 85.ATS Clause 7: "... urges the United Nations Security Council to take such further action as may be necessary to protect civilians in Libya from attack, including the possible imposition of a no-fly zone over Libyan territory."

12. I admit he could have tried harder
But when the blue dogs denied single payer, dadt repeal and everything else, would have have supported him then, or chimed in that dennis could have done everything?

19. Quinnipiac....
Is usually one of the more reliable polls.

But like mfcory1 sez: easily manipulated. The only poll that counts, is on election day.
