Toilet bowl flower pot okayed in Oak Ridge

OAK RIDGE (WATE) - An Oak Ridge man's toilet bowl flowerpot in his front yard won an okay from city court.



Chuck Terry went before a city judge on March 24 to argue for his right to keep using the toilet bowl.

City officials had deemed the toilet bowl as rubbish under property maintenance codes and told Terry he had to get rid of it.

Terry made his case in court using pictures of other plants and yard art around the city, including Community Development Director Kathryn Baldwin's shovels made to look like a dinosaur.

Judge Robert McNees III wrote in his order that the city's definition of rubbish in its property codes "is so broad that it could apply to most containers used for display."

The judge dismissed the case.

I'm in we have the so called "yard art" everywhere, including toilets, bathtub jesus's (jesi?) and mary's as well, and the ever popular flower beds.

heights, using them as mini planters. Asparagus ferns could be the perfect choice to simulate bathroom mold, in keeping within character of the homeowners' crude taste. And perhaps he could make room for a shower stall with ivy growing from the shower head.

16. I saw a literal flower bed last year down the road.

Someone had taken an old rusty iron bed frame and turned it into a place to plant flowers. It was very clever and beautiful because they also had vining plants going up the head and foot boards.

23. I have one of those--but it is in the back yard

I had peachy-pink bathroom fixtures (sink, toilet, tub), came with the house. When the toilet tank cracked, I wanted the same color replacement, which could be had but for about $800. ($800 for a crapper is NOT in my budget!) Replaced it with boring white and hauled the old bowl to the backyard, sank it partially in a flower bed, and planted ferns in it. Just beautiful. But then, I don't have an HOA.

LOVE reuse ideas. Grin.
