Fort Campbell Soldier dies from wounds

Fort Campbell, KY – A 101st Airborne Division Soldier died March 29th of wounds suffered from small arms fire in Kunar province, Afghanistan.

A total of six Screaming Eagle Soldiers were killed March 29th, while conducting an on-going operation in one of Afghanistan’s most volatile provinces.

Private Jeremy P. Faulkner, 23, of Griffin, GA, was an Infantryman assigned to Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He joined the Army in January 2009 and arrived at Fort Campbell in June 2009.

His awards and decorations include: Army Commendation Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon; North Atlantic Treaty Organization Medal; Parachutist Badge and Combat Infantryman Badge.

Faulkner is survived by his father John Faulkner of Rex, GA and mother, Julia Berry of Griffin, GA.

2. This makes my sons shipping off to MCRD San Diego this week even harder.
Our son is going to be an Intelligence Expert and will likely not be on the front lines but it still does not make it easier thinking he may still end up in Afganistan.
