Soldier leaves behind wife, son, daughter. Killed Tuesday in Afghanistan.
The death of Army Staff Sgt. Joshua Gire, a 2000 Huntington grad, in Afghanistan Tuesday is another sobering reminder of how much our military is asked to sacrifice for their country.

Details are sketchy on what happened, but Gire died during his second deployment to Afghanistan. He also served in Iraq and Kosovo.

A third-generation soldier, Gire was acutely aware of what he was giving up when he chose to sign up for the Army. He also was aware of the potential dangers, and he was, like so many others called to active duty, proud of what he was doing in Afghanistan.

Gire's family -- he leaves behind a wife, son and daughter, as well as his parents and many others who loved him -- also sacrificed. For years, he has been away serving the U.S. in foreign lands. They, along with the fellow soldiers in his unit, are left to mourn their loss.

1. Look at that beautiful family...
Now they are without their Daddy and Husband.

I cannot describe the sadness I am feeling right now.

Fuck these wars.

3. A stupid war started by a stupid man
The ones that want wars should be the ones that fight them

I propose a federal law that requires:

When a soldier is killed then the Senators from that state
are required to attend that soldier's funeral. Also, the Representative
of that district is required to attend that soldier's funeral.
They are also required to answer any and all questions the family may have
at that time.

If elected officials feel it is so important that people die for this country
then it is their responsibility to actually stand up for their votes.

5. Please write this in a letter to the editor of your local paper. You are right on,
and folks need to hear it.
