8. I think I know what this is about.
Edited on Fri Apr-01-11 12:00 AM by Wilms
It may be an old freeper concept that if you lower the tax rate, the wealthy will pay taxes rather than pay accountants to help them avoid taxes. Yeah, sure.

I learned about it from a nutzo neighbor. He's unemployed now. From the look on his face, he's reconsidering his delusion about that, and the other BS line suggesting lowered tax rates mean increased employment. Eleven years now, and we're still waiting. :eyes:

One way for the rich to avoid taxes is to INVEST money. Well they're doing that too. Off-shore.

His statement seems to be a bit of a non-sequitor.

9. Maybe he is trying to say that
democrats were opposed to tax cuts for the rich, but then they gave the rich more tax cuts, and so they didn't have to pay any taxes in 2010. I believe he is calling democrats hypocrites.

The reason we oppose Bush's tax breaks for the rich is so these corporate criminals don't get away with this!

Though it may help you, I don't know what may educate your brother. But if anything might I hope it catches up with him soon. We could use his help and he doesn't understand that either.

General Electric Inc paid zero taxes in 2010.

The two faced corporate bagman "democrat" in the White House supported extending the bush boy's tax cuts for the rich.

Well, I think you are seeing it here. Apparently he's angry about GE's tax (non) liability but he can't reconcile it with his own belief system.

Be gentle and keep him away from sharp objects.

20. It's short, so I took the time to read it carefully three times.
Sorry, it doesn't make a lick of sense, even the third time through. It sounds like a Palinesque word-salad non sequitur to me. Perhaps he is mis-parroting something Hannity said?

Are you somehow surprised that a right-wing Foxbot a-hole posts idiotic remarks that don't make sense? This happens every single day!

25. My condolences at the loss of a family member's sanity...
Actually I have a sister just like that...

I can't believe we both came out of the same place, either.

She lives in Glennbeckistan, so we can't talk anymore.

Not because I wouldn't talk to her about other places.

But she won't talk about anything else.

29. We've had 30 years of Trickle-Down Economics, tax-breaks for the rich
All I got was the drizzlin' shits.

This has worked out so well, how?

See if your brother can answer that one... if you can keep from strangling him.

I understand. My brother was a total freep... until he cheetoed and drank himself to death. Such is the reward for such a vile outlook.

30. I guess he does not understand that the stock holders of GE are rich
and receive a share of those profits

Please try to explain to him that GE not paying their share of taxes and rich folks not paying their share of taxes are the same problem

I also support an alternative minimum tax for corporations, throw that one in and watch some heads explode. (maybe ~1% of gross revenue)

32. If you have a government pension, 401K plan, Keogh or IRA, you
are one of the rich stockholders of GE. Few rich people load their assets into one company such that they have overwhelming ownership, the few that do started or bought the companies.

31. Your bro could be my bro's bro.
My younger brother retired from the military and believes that gives his opinions ultimate weight; if we disagree with him, we're somehow dissing his service. The older brother (Viet Nam vet), on the other hand, went door to door for Obama. Sis and I are both progressiveliberaldemocrats. Younger bro is flying solo in the family universe.
