Report: Gadaffi's son visited Colorado as Libya uprising began

DENVER -- Libya leader Muammar Gaddafi’s youngest son was touring some of the most high-powered institutions in the United States, including one in Colorado, when the uprising in his home nation began.

The Daily Mail cites an ABC News report that says Khamis Gaddafi, 27, was in this country with the permission of the U.S. State Department. The tour was part of an internship with AECOM, a global infrastructure company with deep business interests in Libya.

The younger Gaddafi reportedly visited the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs during his time in America.

He was also scheduled to meet with defense contractors including Lockheed Martin, which has facilities in Waterton Canyon in Jefferson County and Northrop Grumman.
