heard the craziest line that sums up the repub mentality

I spoke to a friend of mine last night who recently met up with some Missouri friends here in L.A. the other day.
The husband of his friend said something that I asked him to repeat because I could barely believe my ears. I then had to write it down so I could share it here.


"I have to make a lot of money so I can become a republican."


That....to me.....says it all.

Although I still think the now-classic "keep the govt out of my medicare" still coalesces everything that has gone wrong with our political discourse.

I was stunned, then asked my friend to repeat it, then I said I have to write this down and had him repeat it for a third time. We then talked about how this sums up things.

Good call though considering it is April fools day. These were his actual words. My friend would not for any reason joke about that. If he did joke he couldn't for the life of him keep it up for more than a couple of minutes. He would cave. I promise.

My friend knew I would understand how absurd it was.
