I got a second call from the DNC.
Edited on Fri Apr-01-11 03:31 PM by county worker
I turned them down for the second time. I told them that I felt Obama hasn't lived up to his promises. They said they understand but did I still support the DNC. I told them I was giving my money this year to State issues because that is where the battle to retain the middle class is being fought not in Washington.

I encourage others who want to give money but don't want it going to Washington to contribute to the State battles because almost all of Washington owes allegiance to the corporations. Our fight is in the State capitals. We need to forget about Washington producing a jobs bill or card check or another economic stimulus. We are on our own and the momentum now is with the people and Washington will follow or get out of the way!

1. Just got off the phone with DNC as well. I teach public school
and I told her that until Obama quits paling around with anti-public education jerks like Jeb Bush, and until I hear the President and Democratic senators start to LOUDLY support public schools and public school teachers I will not open my check book for them.

4. I know a couple of teachers. One I use to ride the bus to work with.
Edited on Fri Apr-01-11 03:14 PM by county worker
She is in her early twenties. She gets off the bus about 1/2 mile from the school she teaches at and walks he rest of the way. She can't afford to drive the 70 miles one way that we have to go. She teaches math. Many of her students do not speak english well and she says it is a struggle to teach them math and it is her fault if they don't learn according to most people.

She was pregnant the last time I talked to her. She is married and both her and her husband do not make a whole lot of money together.

This woman puts twice the energy into her job as I do mine. Her repayment is well below what I get yet she is a dedicated determined person.

When the repukes and Dems dump on teachers I think of her and it pisses the hell out of me!

13. I'm with you.
I wonder if Obama has any idea how completely wrong he is on this issue. I mean, we expect this kind of bullshit from Republicans but not Democrats.

5. ALCU and EFF
I just tell them that I give my donations to the ACLU and EFF these days. Shut's 'em up pretty quickly.

Man I wish we had an actual (national) progressive party.

9. I got a beggar letter this week
It went straight into the trash.

You are 100% correct. We are going to have to fight them where we live, because OUR interests are not being represented in Washington.

10. They haven't called me in years.
Don't know how I would react if they did. Cannot see giving money to them anytime soon.

11. I would encourage everyone to withhold donations to the DNC until leadership has improved.
I'm still really upset with the effort put forth by OFA in Illinois towards Obama's former Senate seat. The unions stepped up at the last minute and helped with the door-to-door efforts, but there was no strategy, no coordination, no serious effort put forth to combat the Republican challenger.

Better to donate your money to local and truly progressive candidates and causes. The national Dems don't need our $$$, as they can whore themselves to the closest corporate master.

For Howard Dean to be shut out - exchanged for conservadem Tim Kaine?!?! no, the DNC won't see one dime from me until they stop acting like republican lite and the party of wall street - and start standing up for THE PEOPLE. if i wanted conservatives running shit i would have voted republican! ugh.
