Gov. Rick Scott hears chorus of boos at Rays opener
Link to video

Luis Perez writes in the St. Petersburg Times:

April 2, 2011

ST. PETERSBURG — The line of protesters leading to the Trop was about 125 strong Friday, and they had one sentiment for Gov. Rick Scott.

.....

If Scott missed them as he made his way into the stadium, it's unlikely he missed the chorus of hecklers who serenaded his ceremonial first pitch at 6:45 p.m.
"I heard it through thick glass windows," said Perry Banse, 53, of Largo, who was inside the Everglades BBQ Smokehouse restaurant in the centerfield concession area.

.....

The protesters organized on Facebook, where nearly 1,200 people had signed up to "Boo Rick Scott on Opening Day" before the game.

Outside the stadium, the protesters were mostly public school teachers and group home employees.

They said they were upset about Scott taking aim at teacher pay and tenure and funding for adult mental health and substance abuse programs. They held signs and encouraged those entering the stadium to boo the governor.

.....

For Floridians, this has so many frightening parallels.

Even down to the boots.

Scott shows off his “governor” boots. His bootmaker has tooled leather for presidents including Jimmy Carter. (JANET ZINK, Times)

Two frauds, catapulted into power against the people's will.

1. Ugh. My wife and I were discussing Florida over dinner.
We concluded that both here (Georgia) and Florida are ruled by corrupt right-wing maniacs, but that somehow the Florida ones are more high-profile and make their way into national news more often.

Ugh to the leadership of both our states.

We were in Orlando for a few days last week with beautiful weather. Glad we missed the rain and storms this week.

2. What were voters thinking? I'm sure he'll try and steal the election in 2012, too.
Ditto for Kasich in OH.

7. This One Was Probably Stolen Too
It was VERY close, they-only-stole-as-many-as-they-needed-to-win close.

We should not assume that a majority of voters actually voted for this asshole.

This is FLORIDA we are talking about, after all!

10. I would have thought he'd have less success in Florida with the sunshine. But then, BFI lives there.

14. I still haven't found a person who voted for Scott
Shouldn't one of these people who voted for him stand up and applaud what he's doing?? I agree he stole this election and the media helped him. When they decided to not investigate him or his corrupt ways, they let him be the slick guy. They gave him a pass. Just horrible. And now we're stuck with him for 4 years. Thanks a lot Tea-Baggers!!

15. How do we know anyone voted for the misbegotten thing? Could be that the state of Florida...
Is taking that Citizen United decision to heart and just counted the number of dollars spent by either side.

Grayson said the guy bought the governor's job for $75 million and that's more than the number of people than live in the state of Florida, if a dollar, like a corporation, is a person, too, now.

Oh, man, it's getting more and more unreal.

17. Lot of teabagger support, combined with general apathy
The Democratic candidate, Alex Sink, really didn't inspire much confidence in anyone. It was truly one of the more underwhelming campaigns that I've seen in awhile. Seriously, she was running against a guy who was forced to resign as CEO of a company that had to pay over a billion dollars in fines for Medicare fraud, and has another company currently being investigated for fraud.
