1. Huge unrec
Warren herself has said on many occasions that she would rather ave the job she has now than to be stuck indefinitely in committee awaiting confirmation and not able to actually do anything. You do know that the average wait time for Obama's judicial nominations is 257 days (source http://blogs.wvgazette.com/watchdog/category/nominations/ ). And that is the ones that have won confirmation. Warren is not guaranteed confirmation because a majority of senators on the relevant committee are conservadems that don't like her.

Oh and Ralph Nader is a useless hack that caused us to have Chimpy for 8 years. Fuck him.

3. I rec your unrec.
Warren could keep the job she has now,
a cop-out position in the first place,
whether the confirmation is stuck in
committee or not.

She meant that she wouldn't like to be
sidelined WHILE the confirmation was going on.

Warren, and the American people, deserve her
position to be high-ranking and solidified.
Right now she has NO power to implement any
of her ideas.

5. You just nailed the problem -- She couldn't get by Democrats?
It is fairly predictable that the GOP would oppose her nomination. That's what they do.

But that such a nomination would be blocked by supposed Democrats? And that the presence of that contingent of conservaDems prervents President Obama to take any initiatives, despite a remaining Democratic majority in the Senate? A sad state of affairs.

And Nader is personally a Grade A a'hole, but he is frequently correct on the issues.

14. Well....We're waiting
All that Nasder is really saying is that Obama could walk the talk of his campaign promises by throwing his support behind someone who is obviously qualified for that position and is also a real reformer.

Why does the President not take a stand for a real example of "change you can believe in" as the leader of the Democratuc Party.

The fact that there are twenty million excuses made is precisely the reason the Democratic party has become so impotent as a force for meaningful reform, while the GOP gets what they want (even when they are technically out of power).

7. I am so sorry that Nader has lost credibility
Before Nader turned against Gore, he had credibility with so many people. But now many people refuse to listen to him, whether he is right or wrong.

I must say I am one of them; Nader's judgment was so poor in 2000 and 2004 that I must question his judgment on all issues. I just ignore him and make my decision as though Nader didn't exist.

12. Just because he is a turkey does not mean he isn't correct
That was the whole problem after 2000.

Instead of actually doing some institutional soul-searching about why Nader siphoned off enough liberal voters to make a difference, the Democratic Party chose to merely scapegoat Nader and marginalize his supporters.

Nader is personally a Grade A a'hole. But outside of his own self-righteousness, he is usually spot on in his analysis of issues and proposed remedies. And they are not usually way out in left field -- simply what used to be mainstream liberalism.

11. You know I bet if the OP
had changed the words "Ralph Nader" to pretty much anything else like say "Howard Dean" everyone would be talking about how great a letter it is and how Obama should do exactly what it says. People are just ignoring the message for the messenger.
