Then about eleven or twelve years ago, I saw my first Bald Eagle flying low over the Intracoastal Waterway while attending my son's soccer practice. As of today, I have seen between twenty and twenty-five different Bald Eagles of differing ages, one of them actually flying over my house. What a thrill!
I've also seen Whooping Cranes, very rare and nearly extinct, flying to their winter homes in Florida. And in the last ten years, at least five Whooping Cranes have been killed by idiots with guns.

At the peak sighting, we saw two males fighting over a female when we went to a soccer game.
