MO state senator responds to criticism of his refusal to extend unemployment
Edited on Sat Apr-02-11 02:31 PM by proud2BlibKansan
This is just unbelievable. How do people like this get elected? This man can't even WRITE!! Perhaps he should barrow a dictionary before he responds to any more emails.

From: Senator Brian Nieves Brian.Nieves@senate.mo.gov Date: Fri, Apr 1, 2011 at 9:11 AM Subject: RE: Out-of-District: Unemployment benefits

Thank you for writing. I want you to know I take all this Very Seriously and it is not easy for me to make these Very Difficult decisions.

The voice of “The People” has been crystal clear for about 2 years now and they’ve consistently said it is time for us, as a sovereign state, to begin weaning our self off the benevolent bosom of the federal government and it’s bail outs along with all the many many strings attached.

Missourians are currently eligible for about one and a half years of unemployment and I am in no way trying to take any of that away. I am simply standing in the way of us receiving additional, unbudgeted dollars that the federal government has to barrow from China to be able to send to us. I simply can not be a party to our children being spiraled further in to debt that they did not ask for nor create. Accepting money that is not budgeted and has to barrowed from China is not something I am willing to do.

I know we don’t agree on this issue and the fact that it could affect you personally probably makes it understandably difficult for you to see my point. Please remember that I have been very clear from day one that I will stand in the way of the federal government getting more and more and more involved in our affairs and my stand on these issues is totally consistent with that.

My prayer for any and all Missouri families is that one and a half years will be sufficient time to find a job and in the mean time I will do ALL I possibly can to help restore our economy and take the shackles off our small business owners so that THEY can do what they do best and that is create jobs and prosperity.

I truly do feel for families in need but I cannot be a part of expanding our dependence on the federal government at a time when the federal government literally has NO money other than what they barrow from China. We cannot give people in Missouri an expansion of government benefits that are paid for with Chinese Yen.

I’m sorry we don’t agree on this issue but please know I am working diligently to find and answer.

Sincerely,

Brian Nieves Mo. State Senator Vice Chair, Education Vice Chair, General laws Member, Job Creation & Economic Development State Capitol, Room 433 573.751.3678

3. Dear Brian Nieves
I realize that you were elected on a platform of keeping government out of the lives of Missourians and that you have a job that pays quite well and comes with benefits that we cannot even fathom.

I am concerned with your overview of the employment problem though. It seems that we have been reducing taxes, both federal and local, to lure business to our state and every other state but that has not created enough jobs to help anyone. If you figure in the long term unemployed and the no longer employable it would take the creation of 1.5 million jobs a month for 4 years just to bring us back to a semblence of normalcy. Meanwhile, the ceo of Ford Motors was able to secure a 27 million dollar yearly pay plan, his benefits are unknown and will probably never be known. This is while the citizens of this state are losing their jobs, their homes and their safety net. But enough of that.

What I would like to know, sir, are you willing to accept a reduced amount for your salary? Are you willing to the contribute 5% of your gross salary to your retirement? Are you agreeable to contributing 8% of your gross pay to your healthcare allowance?

As you know, these are difficult times and we must all share in the burden of sacrifice.

Will you do your part.

I believe you will do the right thing

11. They love praying for the unfortunate
Prayer is totally free, and I doubt he's even spending a nanosecond praying for anyone, either.
