Isn't submitting ALEC bills in the Legislatures the same as buying term papers? |

just pay ALEC to write all the bills in the Legislature. Save some money paying for these elected officials salaries and their perks.
Edited to add :sarcasm: if needed

2. Why not just fire the legislature |
|
& contract with ALEC for legislation. The ultimate privatizing move.

7. That makes it a clear case of taking bribes |
|
and giving them something definitely in exchange for their money. :grr:
How an anyone pretend that it is legal?

5. states need to pass laws that require |
|
their legislatures to actually research and assess the impact (on all the state's citizens and the state's environment) of each bill they consider. and they should be required to consult independent experts (not lobbyists)to help them understand the social and economic ramifications of their actions. politicians are just people and rarely have the expertise on their own to make good decisions.

8. That would be nice. I'm sure a lot of independent experts would be |
|
happy to provide some free consulting services to state governments in order to ensure that the pubic good gets accomplished.
That would be a far, far better option than having hired corporate shills writing legislation and bribing reps to get it introduced and passed.

9. Same tools could be used to investigate... |
|
... this whole ALEC mess.
Have been trying to sell the idea of using the same type software that Universities and professors use to fight plagiarism to fight ALEC.
Load any know models and verified bills (all State whatever can be found) that have ALEC content, THEN load new bills and other content to run comparison. this SW gives you normally a XX% match.
This is required in at lot of schools, now. There are a couple of on-line services (SaaS) solutions for this as well.
No takers so far, but still calling and talking. Don't care who does it, but this would give a BIG BANG to exposure - particularly going back in historical documents, so pervasive.
Just suggesting... : - )
