Anyone else getting those phony UPS-FEDEX and Post Express
delivery notices in their spam-junk mail?
Just click on the link for tracking information.
We were unable to deliver the package...click on the link to print out the invoice copy and collect the package at our office...YEA, right!

I can't believe people fall for these schemes.

1. ty for heads up on that virus.
Just checked Snopes, it appears to be long running scam, their reports go back to 2008.

2. Nope. Just some rich guy in Nigeria wanting me to do him a favor.
I'm sure he's legit, but for some reason, it just doesn't seem right.

6. I had two today...The postal one was funny click on the link and
bring it to the office to claim the item I did not order. Give me a break~!!

UPS: "your package will arrive in three days, click on the link for tracking information!" I know what I order and the tracking information comes back in minutes. I have never had someone else's name in the "to:" part of the email message and my name in the hundreds of "CC's:"

Why would there be hundreds of CC's on a personal order???

7. Thanks for the heads-up.

Here's the one I received in my inbox, not my spam folder. Even though I haven't ordered anything recently, I thought a friend might be sending me a gift so I saved what I thought was a real UPS tracking notice. I just took a closer look at it after I read this post. Here's what it says:

Dear customer.

The parcel was sent your home address.
And it will arrive within 3 business day.

More information and the tracking number are attached in document below.

Thank you.

Notice the two errors in the second paragraph. The word "to" is omitted in the first line, i.e. should read "...sent to your home address."

"...will arrive would within 3 business day" should be "days." That kind of singular/plural confusion is so typical of foreign spam. The "document below" is a zip file attachment, which I'm VERY GLAD now that I never opened!!!

Again, thanks for the heads-up. If not for this post, I might never have looked closely at this now-obvious piece of spam.

8. yes... but I know about phishing...
Many more sporadic email and internet users do not. Especially the elderly. There really ought to be some steep fines (and jail time) for those who do this.

9. At UPS there is an additional fee for e-mail notification.
It is a service that is rarely used, and would never be used on a package you weren't expecting. The few times you would ever see it in practice would be for narcotic prescriptions or high value shipments.

10. My worst junk mail comes from Orchard Bank.
No matter how I try to block them, they have another address. Hot-mail could do better with the 'block sender' option.

No phony UPS, FedEX yet.
