Radioactive Boars And Mushrooms In Europe Are Grim Reminder of Chernobyl

Does this mean the Japanese radiation will be another nuclear gift that keeps on giving?

Radioactive Boars And Mushrooms In Europe Are Grim Reminder Of Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster :

BERLIN -- For a look at just how long radioactivity can hang around, consider Germany's wild boars.

A quarter century after the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in the Soviet Union carried a cloud of radiation across Europe, these animals are radioactive enough that people are urged not to eat them. And the mushrooms the pigs dine on aren't fit for consumption either.

Germany's experience shows what could await Japan – if the problems at the Fukushima Dai-ichi plant get any worse.

1. try to get a copy of "Chernobyl Heart" an HBO documentary
It's far more than mushrooms affected -- they are finding high cesium counts in homemade jams. And the children in the area also have those high levels.

This documentary will rip your heart apart. These children are still being born with massive problems due to Chernobyl. "Chernobyl Heart" is a medical condition - the children are being born with holes int their hearts. "IF" they are lucky enough to get treatment, it can be fixed.

5. another documentary that probably won't make you feel better
Whit Light, Black Rain -- HBO special on the survivors of Hiroshima/Nagasaki. The survivors were NOT treated well by their own people, and this has several telling their stories.

Hopefully, the attitude will change, and those going through this now will not be classed as virtual untouchables. This may be so far beyond what happened, in terms of future illnesses and death.
