We Are One TOMORROW - find a rally and attend to support working people!
On April 4, and on the days surrounding it, working families across the country are organizing numerous actions. There are already more than 800 public events planned all across the country, with dozens more added every day. Many more people will be taking action in their workplaces and homes.

We'll be remembering Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s commitment to workers of all races on the 43rd anniversary of his assassination. He died standing with Memphis sanitation workers demanding their dream of a better life. Today, we can honor his sacrifice by standing together with working people in Wisconsin and dozens of other states where corporate-bought politicians are trying to take away the rights for which Dr. King gave his life.

The right to bargain collectively for a voice at work and a middle-class life are under attack as never before. The good news is, we have unprecedented solidarity. But we can't just make progress from the top down. It has to come from the bottom up-from you. We need your energy, your spark and your creativity to grow our movement.

You don't have to think of yourself as an activist to take part. The planned events include gatherings to watch documentary films, pizza socials and teach-ins. Or you can take part in your own way.

To find a vigil, rally or other public event near you, go to We-R-1.org. It has a ZIP code-searchable list of local actions around the country.

Update your Facebook status or profile picture to let your friends and family know that "Martin Luther King, Jr. said 'all labor has dignity.' Today, on the 43rd anniversary of his death, I'm joining with workers in Wisconsin and across America for jobs, decent wages and the chance at a better life. Make this your status if you agree."

Check out ideas for other actions and events.

AFT members are wearing their tee-shirts. No one said anything at our PSEA local, but I'm going to wear mine anyhow. Corbett is threatening tenure and wants PA teachers to take pay freezes.

15. I hope our local AFT members will show up
As a group, they are pathetically uninvolved. But this year we are all pissed off so maybe they will turn out at the rally tomorrow. :)

21. Great sign!
And thanks for the idea. My artistic skills when it comes to penmanship and drawing are really crappy, but I'm asking a friend who is very good at that sort of thing to help out.

There is one here in my home area at the aptly named Martin Luther King Center. And I'm going to proudly wear my Union colors!

:applause:

:loveya:

Are those publicly available? If so, where could I get one? :D

Of course, the idea of a frail, thin guy in an electric wheelchair tooling around wearing one of those is kind of comical. But I think that makes a great statement about how farcical the boogieman idea of a union thug really is.

13. I definitely will.
:D

I wonder how many of them will get the joke. Or if I'll have to explain it to them while they're ranting and raving about how this "proves" something or other. :P

17. I've seen a lot of terrific shirts, but none as terrific as that one!
Bartcop would say it's the only shirt you'll ever need. Wear it everywhere.
