(AZ) Controversial abortion legislation signed into law
Controversial abortion legislation signed into law

Jan Brewer signed legislation Wedensday that bans abortion based on gender or ethnicity. Arizona is the first state in the nation to pass legislation banning abortion based on ethnicity. Supporters want to stop discrimination based abortions. . State Senator Nancy Barto (R-Scottsdale) said, " We are a multicultural society now and cultures are brining their traditions to America that really defy the values of America, including cultures that value males over females."

Critics of the law feel there is no such evidence of such abortions, and the law takes away the mother's right to privacy. Chief Executive officer of Planned Parenthood Bryon Howard stated, " This law creates a highly unusual requirement that women state publicly their reason for choosing to terminate a pregnancy-a private decision they already made with their physician, partner and family." The person performing the abortion is required to sign and keep an affidavit stating the abortion was not done based on gender or race. It will now be a class 3 felony to perform or provide financing for an abortion based on gender of the fetus or race of the fetus or parent. The penalty, if convicted, would be up to 3 1/2 years in jail. Brewer's spokeperson said, " Governor Brewer believes society has a responsibility to protect its most vulnerable-the unborn-and this legislation is consistent with her strong pro-life record." The law will take effect 90 days after the current legislative session ends.

If you are against such laws as this, does it make you a libertarian?

1. No it doesn't make you a Libertarian
most of us aren't.

Libertarians don't care about abortion as much as they don't care about children.

2. How can you even enforce such a law?
What are you going to ask the women, "are you going to abort because the daddy is black?"?

3. Brewer wants to protect the unborn
It's those who have left the womb that she doesn't give a shit about!!! Just like the majority of the anti-abortion rat fuckers.

6. Just another way to criminalize doctors....
Ever since the HMO explosion, doctors have been more and more treated like just another common laborer. They're workers, not managers. Laws like this just serve to keep them looking over their shoulders, like the rest of us.

And yes, it's another "camel's nose in the tent" in the war on women's right to health care.

7. I would use 'unknown' without one single qualm
What are they going to do then? Made me list, by color and number and name how many men I had been with? What if I can't remember? Is there a default? What if the father has several ethnicities?

I hope to hell someone challenges this law.

None of their business who women are with, just as whether or not they choose an abortion is none of their business. Again, they don't give a shit about women other then controlling them.
