3. Whoaaa...what's that animal in the background...
Edited on Sun Apr-03-11 02:50 PM by OneGrassRoot
to the left of mama?

On edit: Never mind, it looks like a horse. I didn't realize where this was, and how close it is to a road until the darn motorcycle noise took over. :(

4. LOL
Every now and then you hear a car horn. Sometimes they show you a stream.
It's too cool.

5. I checked it out on Google's Street View
You find the fish hatchery just south of the town and there's a house with a detached garage and a small barn right there at the crossroads (this is very rural, so easy to find). Between the barn and the garage there's a line of pine trees.

Beyond the line of pine trees you can see a huge cottonwood tree. I believe that this is the tree since there's a video at the Ustream site showing the area from the eagle's point of view. The house with barn and line of pine trees is visible.

Anyhow, if this is the right spot, they're not all that close to the road and the area is rural.

6. You are good
Great info.

After the devastation of the earthquake and tsunami and all the bombing and killing, this is a welcome relief - nature and life!!
:hi:

10. You are so right...My mom finally turned off the NHK
I think she couldn't absorb anymore of it. The enormity of what has happened.

She has been watching the eagles non-stop ever since. A feeling of comfort that life goes on. That even wildlife facing extinction can survive.

9. There's a video at the Ustream site showing the eagle's point of view
When I saw that line of pine trees and the small barn and learned that the tree was near the fish hatchery it didn't take long. It's so rural with so few structures. You can spot the tree from the road as you travel west along the road and spin around to look at the pines that sit between the house and the barn.

Google Street View is such a treat and I love maps.

39. What is the road that is in the main view?
and which direction is the camera facing when that road is in view? West/northwest?

Or rather, where is the tree relative to the fish hatchery? West? North?

17. Pretty sure that's the male on the nest
And has been for the last 40 minutes or so. Now there's proof- not smart enough to cover up the one eaglet that's now exposed.

He's catching hell when momma gets home.

Can you see it over on the right? Maybe those who know about this are commenting.

I wondered if this was the elder of the two and they're giving it some "outside" time.
