Catholic Bishop called "pedophile pimp" with "no moral credibility to lecture anyone"
(CNN) - The New Hampshire House majority leader lashed out Friday on his Facebook page at a Roman Catholic bishop, calling the clergyman a "pedophile pimp" who "has no moral credibility to lecture anyone."

The comments come in the wake of a rally Thursday where John McCormack, who is bishop of the Roman Catholic Manchester Diocese, criticized state budget cuts that he argued would hurt "the most vulnerable in our society," according to a transcript of his remarks posted on the diocese's website

4. ... Bettencourt posted a message on his personal Facebook page excoriating Catholic Bishop
John McCormack, who had told demonstrators that budget-writers had not provided for the poor ...

So the Catholic Bishop says state budget should remember the poor -- and in response Republicans shriek "pedophile!"

6. The only problem is the guy is right to an extent.
"In early 2002, Bishop John McCormack publicly announced the names of 14 priests in the diocese who had been accused of sexually abusing children. In April of that same year, he was removed from his post as chairman of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' Ad Hoc Committee on Sexual Abuse.<4> McCormack later admitted to reassigning pedophilic priests, but claimed poor file-keeping had kept him from knowing the full extent of the problem."

I'd rather be outraged by the neverending Republican assault on the poor than their random snarking at a bishop.

7. if someone criticizes legislation, perhaps the proper response is not to make unrelated accusations:
in this case, the authorities have had nearly a decade to file charges against McCormack, if there were real evidence that he was something other than incompetent or naive or stupid or uninformed, about some of the problems and issues

And what's going on here, of course, is simply the politics of distraction: McCormack criticized legislation Bettencourt supports, so Bettencourt tried to change the topic

5. By the analysis of the American media, this would mean he has "liberal, Democratic leanings"
And they will call him a "moderate". /sarcasm
