Obama looks to raise $1 Billion for campaign
“So even though I’m focused on the job you elected me to do, and the race may not reach full speed for a year or more, the work of laying the foundation for our campaign must start today,” Obama continues in the written message. That includes fundraising for what could be the first-ever $1 billion campaign.

1. There is something fundamentally wrong with the cost and duration
of each election. It gets worse every time.

4. Well it sure isn't going to come from little donations from the unemployed
Or from any substantive giving from people fighting foreclosure or the under-employed.

A goal that high says something I'm very uncomfortable with.

10. His advisers (there are over 1200 articles on the campaign, most all mention it)
Filing paperwork will allow the president to begin raising money in earnest for what advisers hope will be a record-breaking haul of more than $1 billion.

'It's definitely within reach, as he raised three quarters of a billion last time,' said CFI Executive Director Michael Malbin.

'As the incumbent president it's quite plausible to imagine him raising $1billion.'
