Terry Jones may put Mohammed on trial for his next act
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1372827/Terry-Jones-Mohammed-trial-Koran-burning-sparks-2nd-day-violence.html?ITO=1490

<snip>
Despite clear evidence that his actions have led to multiple murders and widespread violence in the Middle East, controversial Florida pastor Terry Jones has vowed to step up his provocative campaign against Islam.

The radical pastor said that he was considering putting Islamic prophet Mohammed 'on trial' for his next 'day of judgement' publicity stunt.
...
He said in an interview: 'It is definitely a consideration to stage a trial on the life of Mohammed in the future.'

Such a move would trigger further violent protests in the Muslim world - even in more moderate Islamic states.
<snip>

How can anybody in their right mind say that this asshole isn't inciting violence with his words and actions?

15. Because the best way to deal with death threats is to concede?
Appeasement is usually not the best way to get radicals under control.

They won't say: aw they gave in to our demands, I guess these are swell guys and we can be friends now. They'll think "it worked, keep it up".

3. I think this Jones guy wants to see more misery and killings - perhaps even start
another war. Does he have some higher authority to whom he is responsible,
like a bishop, or has he started a religious sect of his own?

He sounds like a sadist who has lost all self-control.

of understanding and self-restraint - but not this nut Jones.
He is trying to start more violence in the best way he knows how.

Couldn't our government advise him to exercise more restraint, or
he would be made to do so for the reason of attempting to incite
citizens to violence?

7. This will continue until Americans die.
Then an obscure law will be invoked by some District Attorney to try and silence him.

He's un evolved and those doing the killing are un evolved. What are you gonna do?

8. He has proved his point: That (some) Muslims can easily be provoked to violence
over symbolic gestures. How much anti-Semitic rhetoric do millions of people in the Middle East hear on a daily basis? =lots.

For the sake of the security of our forces -and of the other Westerners in the region, Terry Jones should stop. Not because he doesn't have the right to be an a**hole (he does); rather, for the simple reason that he's putting our own people in danger.

13. He's probably disappointed that only a handful of people died as a result of his last stunt
He's probably happy that burning the Koran got a violent reaction (after all, it "proved" his point), but somewhat disappointed that it didn't result in widespread riots and violence. Hence the escalation.

No telepathy needed.

11. Hmm so we are going to do a trial of a man who lived 1,500 years ago?
A man whose life, while much better documented than any other major religious figure, is still shrouded in myth. A man of whom writings about his day to day life are about as biased and unreliable as the Gospels are to Jesus's life. Yes this makes so much sense, by the way from what I've read Mohommaed himself wasn't that bad, but you can't blame a man for what his followers do in his name thousands of years after his death, or if we can where is Jesus's trial?

There was a case where a guy tried to sue god and the case was thrown out because the attorneys couldn't find an address to serve the papers.

26. Who would appear for the defence?
I mean, I despise Mohammed and what he stood for, and I'd love to appear for the prosecution in a genuinely fair trial of him.

But it seems vastly unlikely that anyone remotely capable of or interested in appearing for the defence would want to go anywhere near Jones, and a show trial is nearly always a bad thing.

28. "How can anybody in their right mind say that this asshole isn't inciting violence with his words.."
No one can. But, just you wait, some people (my opinion of their "right mind" should be obvious) will. Some right here on DU.

Jones WANTS to incite MORE violence and MORE killings and anyone that says he's just exercising his right to free speech is being willfully ignorant.
