Wall Street executive dies after falling from New York apartment
Edited on Mon Apr-04-11 04:04 PM by liberal life
A high-flying Wall Street executive plunged to his death from the window of his fifth-floor apartment in New York last night.

Keith Mastronardi, 31, had been smoking and drinking heavily and was trying to open a window to air the room when he slipped and fell at about 10.25pm, according to police.

Mrs Mastronardi, who had also been drinking heavily, became hysterical and had to be carried out of the Upper East Side apartment on a stretcher, according to police sources.

The Wall Street Journal reports she was then taken to the New York Presbyterian Hospital for psychological evaluation.

6. then they ended the story with....
"Mr Mastronardi went to school in Mineola, New York, where he was state champion in the triple jump for the Catholic High School Athletic Association.

He was also triple jump champion for three out of his four years at the University of Chicago, and still holds the indoor record, according to the Wall Street Journal."

Kinda twisted

A Wall Street trader and former college track champion fell five stories to his death after opening a window in his Upper East Side apartment so that his cigarette smoke wouldn’t bother his three sleeping children, police said.

With his children in bed, Keith Mastronardi, 31 years old, was “drinking heavily” and smoking cigarettes inside his fifth floor apartment at 340 E. 74th Street on Sunday night, police said. Just before 10:30 p.m., Mastronardi opened a bedroom window to air out the apartment. After doing so, however, he lost his balance and fell through open window, police said.

My one caveat is that he's opened that window so many times before.

Edit: Shit. The youngest is a newborn. http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/manhattan/wall_street_executive_heavily_fell_2eZJDTrU6YRD2rLaExrzLJ

Edited on Mon Apr-04-11 05:42 PM by blondeatlast
my beloved sister has been undergoing chemo and has major, major surgery to stay her cancer. She seems to be doing well but has at least 2 more months of chemo ahead.

Death isn't so amusing when it's peeking over one's shoulder.

I have a dark sense of humor usually, but my mind went immediately to the fact that someone is grieving the loss of a loved one--and I may be doing so much sooner than I want to.

A newborn--OMG--that poor woman. ))shudder((

42. I don't find the death funny, just other DUers
but I posted this because THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL THIS WAS AN ACCIDENTAL FALL!

I mentioned this story to my kid just to see initial reaction- "Right- someone pushed him"

Isn't it obvious? People do not fall out of windows when they are opening them. That is just so stupid they expect us to believe that.

His wife probably needs treatment because she saw the whole thing and they told her they would kill her children if she told anyone, and judging from what she just witnessed she knows they mean it.

I posted this hoping to raise awareness and encourage a real investigation and justice for this family.

This mother needs help. I feel horrible for her. This was not an accident, and she needs other people to fight for a real investigation. She cannot do it alone.

76. That was my thought when I saw the picture.
How did he fall out of those windows? I have sash windows. Even all the way open, I'd have to be bent over and leaning out and even then, my feet are still on the floor. No way did he just fall out while opening the window. Also, with young children, he's required to have window guards.

44. hmmm....
my daughter and son-in-law bought a house last year and my grandsons bedroom windows were at a second story level. One day I realized how easy it would be for them to fall out of the window (they are toddlers) with only a screen to stop them. So I went online to buy window guards (they were not available form the local home improvement store). Once they were in, i felt my grandsons were so much safer.
But in my "research" for the window guards, I thought I had seen something where in New York, apt. windows had to have guards on them in a home where there were children under the age of 8.

Interesting.....

He headed a division dedicated to destroying economies: "Exotic Derivatives." I'm damn sorry that any 31-year-old man with three children to support gets so drunk he falls out what appears to be an amazingly small window, but anyone deriving his income from derivatives should be in jail in the first place.

48. There was a senior who fell from a dorm window at University of Chicago
after a night of drinking. The party was held on the fifth floor of a vacant dorm and she was sitting in the window and lost her balance. Her parents sued the University- there was no good reason why a window on that floor should have been accessible for someone to sit in it with half her body outside, not to mention with a kegger and a party going on. I thought of her because this guy was an alumnus of the University of Chicago. Being smart doesn't keep you from making fatal mistakes.

whether I believe he deserved it or not. You know nothing of him or how he lived his life, just his job title, and you sit in judgment and deem him worthy of death. And I spoke of his wife and child left behind. Are they not worthy of your compassion? Or have they been tainted by simply being a part of his life?

You don't overcome hate, selfishness and evil by joining it in the gutter. Hate all you want. It just makes your heart as shriveled as theirs.
