7. Back to the unity of the '04 primaries? Pelosi and Reid's '06 Congress? |
|
I must have frequented a different board. :D People are equally united against the GOP, I think, but levels of expectation (and disappointment) for '09-'10 in particular varied really, really widely for people here. Some were expecting Clinton 2.0, others were expecting something more. Recall those who expected Pelosi to begin impeachment hearings? Or those who were convinced Dean had Iowa nailed?
(No intention of denigrating any of the sentiments described above)

What I didn't expect is how horribly disappointed and pissed off I would feel, not in Obama alone but the whole party. But my point remains--as Chomsky says, the power of the office magnifies what seem to be small differences to some. In the event, those differences can mean a great deal.

You couldn't possibly be considered as contributing in any way to the disruption. As for division, this is what democracy looks like. A lotta different opinions, then we vote. Then we argue about the vote.

|
the consent of the governed is taken into consideration. We just think we have a voice when we vote.
Pay attention to what Obama says he will do and contrast that to what he has done so far as President. Please try to keep an open mind, at least till it dawns on you there seems to be a disconnect between the rhetoric and the action.
