Why should we overlook contradictions in the war on terror? |
|
Edited on Mon Apr-04-11 11:59 PM by noise
1)Saudi links to al Qaeda were covered up.
2)Despite claiming the war against al Qaeda was of vital importance the Bush administration diverted resources and personnel to invade and occupy Iraq. They also lied about an Iraqi/al Qaeda nexus.
3)Counterterrorism policies like torture, indefinite detention and rendition increased the threat of retaliation and aided terrorist group recruitment.
4)Inconsistent foreign policies like picking and choosing which Middle East dictators are partners in the war on terror and which need to be overthrown have increased the threat of retaliation.
5)Clamping down on whistleblowers who dare to point out fraud and corruption in war on terror related government agencies.

1. The war on terror, the war on drugs. |
|
Amazing how they battle an idea, yet only the people suffer in the end. Always stupid ideas to fight wars you cannot win. After 9/11 we should have relied on our CIA to get Osama Bin Laden and not used conventional means, by any means. The whole thing we a bullshit fubar from the second Dick Cheney thought up invading Afghanistan (turns out we should have gone after Pakistan) and Rummy thought up invading Iraq. And now we are stuck in two unwinnable wars and a new third war of undetermined goals or timeframe. We just know we will be blowing up innocent people, to get to the 'bad guys'. In many ways the war on drugs is as bad, if the past POTUSs knowingly did the very drugs they are at war with I would call it a total loss. What we really need is a War on Hypocrisy.

our most primitive emotions and drives.

3. the war on terror was a joke, we all know it |
|
how we get out of it is truely a quagmire. Wholesale policy change announced to the world would only be the first step. hardcore protectionism- the only first steps

4. Idiotic money wasters. |

No terrorist ever destroyed a city. Bush and Katrina did. Let's spend our money fighting our real threats instead of the monsters in the closet.

6. Somehow Al-Qaeda always pops up were the US either wants to invade or destabilize the country |
|

Either it's the KLA(Yougoslavia),LIFG(Libya) or Jundullah(Pakistan/Iran) doing the work for us, or they get invented so we can invade were we want to or to stay there.
