He's basically like CNN now. He rarely takes stances and is hell bent on trying to be this figure in the middle and even give credibility to some of the repubs' idiotic talking points.

We need to put forth the other side.

What do you want her to do? Bash Obama and Democrats day in and day out like we do here on DU? That gets boring and tiresome, and she has done so from time to time.

Rachel is fair in that she cuts down Obama and the Democrats when they're being cowardly. She cuts down Republicans when they are cruel and disgustingly corrupt and hypocritical.

47. So apparently you missed her coverage of the Japan disaster, the Gulf
oil spill or any other major news story that only gets talking points from the MSM. She was the first one to call out Michigan's governor. She actually does research and digs deeper into stories than anyone on the air. She does call out conservatives on their BS when they need it. Also, when she invites conservatives on her show she actually lets them talk and then offers rebuttals. She doesn't talk over or ridicule her guests. She admits when they make a good point and when she had made a mistake. SHould she ignore republican/conservative lies and spin? Not sure what you expect of her.

45. Wanting to prove that he's not liberal to appease his Republican guests and get them on his show.
The cake for me was and still is his moral equivalency. The left is NOT equivalent to the right. The fact that his explanation to Rachel about what he went that route didn't make any sense to me at all. Jon didn't know what he was talking about. In his quest to appear neutral, he went overboard, likening both sides. The left hasn't come anywhere near the rigt in terms of civility and vitrolic fervor. The left doesn't have an equivalent of the Teabaggers. For Jon to make that statement still pisses me off with him.

There has been a change since that administration. Now, he's too careful. Look, he nearly kissed the feet of Glenn Beck.

And, I'm sorry. His lame-ass explanation for why he characterized the left and the right as being morally equivalent was a complete and utter turn-off. So that's what I did: I turned his ass off!

I supported that big rally he had with Colbert, and I thought it was great fun watching it.

But somewhere along the line Jon started really bugging my arse. he's still funny and clever and all that, but I think he's kind of skeevy or something now.

He is different, like he has a bit of an odour to him. Strange. I guess maybe it's because he's bandwagoning and jumping on board with criticizing Obama in some of the same lame ways I see here and am just fed up with uninformed stupidity. Not saying Jon is stupid, but surely he knows some of the schtick he does is just outright lies but I guess he needs the reaction or something and goes with it anyway.

He always has been.. Many people do not realize that his show pretty much came about during the Bush years, and bush was SO bad, it's easy to see why we would think that he's "on our side", BUT, as a satirist his JOB is to skewer politicians..and when "our side" has questionable things happening, he cannot ignore them.

Deep down, by his guest-choices, we know he desperately wants democrats to succeed, but he's not FoxNews, and will never drink the koolaid on the air & spout party line nonsense..

32. K&R #1. "in the middle." He lost me with his apres-BecKKK rally
and finally exposed his Third Way namby pamby crap. But looking back, I should have seen the sign when he pulled his Crossfire sucker punch. At least on Crossfire, there was somebody on the Lib side being aggressive and breathing Lib FIRE.

Oddly, when I thought he was a Lib, I only watched brief clips of his eviscerating wingnuts because I've never liked echo chamber figures, prefer to listen critically to enemies. From the news media, I've never wanted "a Lib network" the way wingnuts want to hear only their own propaganda on Faux, I've only griped about not having a level playing field because I'm confident that in an even contest the Lib side will easily prevail.

But since he exposed his namby pamby middle, I don't even watch clips.

40. He is a comic. If he is 'like CNN' the punch line is CNN is 'news'
and he's a comedian. One of the prime dynamics of comedy involves status, and the higher the status, the better the target. The stronger the target, the better the jokes. Anyone in a high office, anyone, is going to be lampooned by comedians. That is the nature of the work.
