Why we will win.. and they will lose
Edited on Tue Apr-05-11 09:22 AM by Stuart G
Deep within the soul of the United States, some people are really admired. We all know many honest, hard working public servants who are policemen, firemen, teachers, and sanitation workers who do their jobs without complaint. These aren't the high paying glamourous jobs, but there is respect there, that politicians don't have. All the media hype in the world cannot remove that respect that most of us have for these jobs and most of the people who do them. We learn at a very early age, to look up to the firemen, policemen and teachers. They are "good people"

We will come together with public support to win our pensions, fair saleries, and decent working conditions because it is so clear that this is the right thing to do. Occasionally the right thing happens. Meat inspection laws are passed, child labor outlawed, equal rights are obtained.

Those among us who beleived in the right wing lies will see the lies for what they are. Lies. They will come home. It may take this moment, and this time, but they will come home.

When the public workers come together as a force, we will win. They will lose.

3. Don't forget voter suppression.
Ohio just took 300,000 voters off the poll books and enacted legislation that will make 900,000 voters seek out a photo ID to use at the polls. Good luck getting the elderly, ill, and poor people to the government photo booth before 20012. Things are really worse than you think.
