Olbermann tells College Republican that ‘most conservatives are wildly stupid’
Source: RawReplay
By David Edwards

Former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann returned to his alma mater, Cornell University, last week to give a short talk to students there.

During a question-and-answer period, Olbermann told one student, who identified himself as a member of the College Republican National Committee, that “most conservatives are wildly stupid.”

This video was uploaded to YouTube April 4, 2011.

3. well, what else can it be when we have had how many years of tax cuts for the rich
and deregulation and the results have been an economic catastrophe and a ballooning deficit with no increase in jobs but a decrease in them and yet the republicans still tout the same 'ideas' as the solution.

9. I'm sick of the false parity. Both 'sides' are not equivalent.

So 5% of liberals aren't terribly bright, it doesn't come close to the 50% of 'conservatives' that are total fucking morons.

Those morons believe that 'both sides do it', therefore there's no real difference except for the color of the team jersey. They think that George Soros is the left-wing equivalent of the entire right-wing corporate complex. They believe that their 'climate expert deniers' are equal to the 99% of actual climate scientists who understand the issue. They really, actually think that the 'left' is just as full of shit as Rush Limbaugh, Fox News, and the whole gamut of the RW noise machine.

It doesn't matter to them that we can prove that they are being lied to, they don't care! It doesn't matter that we can prove they are being brainwashed to the detriment of the entire nation, allowing corporations to get away with literally murder, let alone the destruction of the working class.

Yes, there are 'idiots on both sides', but that's like saying a shoplifter and a mass-murderer are 'both criminals'. Sure they are, but only a moron fails to make the glaring distinction.

27. Sadly, you seem to have offended someone. (It wasn't me. That's a very hard thing to do.)

I'm not happy with that either. I would have liked to respond with all proper context intact. Thankfully, I grabbed your entire post before it was deleted so I can do just that. (I so love the Firefox!)

I've taken out the bits I think might have triggered the delete. I really was fine with them as their poignance was very much lacking.

15. I completely disagree with you.

I work in politics. I spend hours each day with elected local, state, and federal officials. Both sides generally have the same amount of stupid people.

I've had an Indiana state senator (D) tell me that national debt doesn't matter because you cant collect on a country, adding "is China going to repossess our highways?"

I've had a mayor of a Indianapolis suburb (R) tell me that "eliminating welfare would eliminate poverty because 95% of welfare recipients are just lazy."

I've spoken with a woman from Indianapolis who works for a Democratic US Rep who claimed "If we just raised the minimum wage to $15 or $20 dollars, we would be much better."

I've also had a republican tell me that Obama is god's punishment to America for our sins. (I couldn't even respond to that guy, I couldnt stop laughing)

If you really think that only 5% of liberals aren't smart, but 50% of conservatives are, {redacted by The Doctor.}. There are millions of liberals that think we should just start cutting checks to people to pay bills. There are also millions of conservatives who think that we would be fine with next to no taxes.

It seems that you may be buying into the partisan talking points from the left, {redacted by The Doctor.}.

Off the top of my head, I can say that these statements seem somehow unoriginal. That is to say; 'something between recycled and apocryphal'.

It's as though many of us here have heard them all before. I really like the "I'm a first-hand expert" angle as well. I'm not saying you've lied at all. OTOH, your examples are not indicative of necessarily either 'right' or 'left' wingers... but politicians.

If your argument is that politicians are somehow idiots to a more comparable degree than the cross-section sampling among the divisive and divided populace, then I have little doubt you'd find a great deal of agreement here. Otherwise, as another poster said; let's see the proof. Because I have a hard time believing that less than half of 'conservatives' and more than 5% of 'liberals' share the same depth of idiocy.

31. They really are stupid. I miss Keith so much...
The CONservatives bring you people like Sarah Palin, Christine O'Donnell, Michele Bachmann,Dan Quayle, Ben Quayle, Glenn Beck, and of course, George W. Bush. These people are extremely dangerous. They have people like Ann Coulter running around talking about how great radiation is for the human body. I don't think she's planning any trips to Tokyo no time soon. The freak elements of the republican party depend on America being ignorant. That's why they're so anti-education. They want us to have a third-world standard of living with no way out.

36. Have you seen the failed and absurd policies and complete loony tunes
these folks are in love with?

Just based on the politicians that they push, the fuckers are stupid, evil, or both.

Sharon Angle, Louie Gohmert, Virginia Foxx, Dubya, Palin, fucking Bachman??? Are you serious? That shark is about the size of an amoeba.

If the fuckers aren't stupid then they must be something far worse and orders of magnitude more frightening.
