Isn't it time for a Jubilee year? |
|
If we REALLY want to go by the Christian bible, every 50 years was a Jubilee year in which all debts were forgiven and all slaves freed.
I think that should just about take care of lots of our current ills.

1. It was actually the Hebrews who did that. |
|
When the Christians adopted the Jubilee concept, they only made it for the forgiveness of sins, which can be seen as a lot less useful.

6. I know. But it's Hebrews doing the jubileeing, not Christians. |
|
Any Christian mention of Jubilees was initiated by popes.

There's no resources left for implementing a bottom up plan.
Look around, see who spent and who recieved, and then vote for people who will do the right thing to fix the mistakes that were made.

... which I've been wondering about myself for years. RW Knuckle draggers never seem to notice those parts of the Bible that are aligned with an ethic of love, forgiveness, peace, etc.
Interestingly, I don't believe the Jubilee was EVER actually followed by any so-called "civilization", including ancient Hebrews.
