Will Air Traffic Controllers still work if there is a government shutdown?

Just don't plan a trip to DC to the monuments, national parks or get your passport processed.

The reason I ask is because I had heard that this would be a "real" shutdown, unlike the one in 1995. I was hearing all kinds of dire predictions for this one.

Work but get paid "later" instead of on their regularly scheduled pay day.

I work with people who went thru the 1990's shut down and that is what they say happened. They had to go to work but got paid several weeks after they should have been.

There was talk during the first shut down threat earlier this year that letters would be sent out to their mortgage companies/car note companies from the feds telling these creditors that the workers may get behind in their payments due to not getting paid.

Ok. Great. Meanwhile...groceries? Gas for the car to GET to work? And so on...


Pretty sure where I work will be a ghost town since we have quite a few eateries/stores that probably fall under "non-essential".
