No difference between the parties? Holy shit are we ever getting a detailed lesson
in the big fucking differences. It's all in Paul Ryan's insane and horrific budget plan.

7. +100000000000000000 He's probably smarter than we think.
For some of these Republicans, batshitcrazy! is only a cover to get Democrats to "compromise," thereby giving them exactly what they really want.

12. Well, give the White House a chance and some time to work it out.
Edited on Tue Apr-05-11 01:00 PM by Better Believe It
They need some serious closed door meetings with Republican and Democratic leaders over the next several weeks to work out the details of the big "deal".

Let President Obama and Vice-President Biden sprinkle their bi-partisan magic dust.

6. We sure are: the GOP doesn't cave like spineless Dems do.
We see really major differences between a horrible, effective GOP and a spineless, weak-willed Democratic Party. Unfortunately, the differences aren't helping us.

11. A grand compromise to reduce the deficit on the backs of working people and elderly is coming.

And guess who will be doing most of the bi-partisan compromising?

13. What exactly have Democrats done to show a big difference ?
Edited on Tue Apr-05-11 01:06 PM by Bandit
Besides talk that is. Everyone knows talk is cheap..If you understand politics, you know that they always present the very worst thing possible so you will settle for what they really want..They want draconian cuts in social services and social programs. They will get draconian cuts but not as draconian as they first present...Democrats will get absolutely nothing.....Even though we control both the Whitehouse and the Senate we will get the shaft once more..

23. What are Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan, chopped chicken?
Edited on Tue Apr-05-11 06:57 PM by uppityperson
Do you seriously believe McCain would have nominated them, that their being on the SCOTUS makes no difference?

As far as age at appointment and "When Bush* picked, he picked for decades down the road..", Alito was 55 when he got on the SCOTUS as is Sotomayor while Roberts and Kagan were both 50.

14. Tea party types don't read these bills -
they don't understand them. So they'll believe that repubs have their best interests at heart and will think it's a "good plan" and will be screaming for it at their rallies. Hope someone points out they'll lose their medicare and will have to pick and buy insurance in their old age (when they are less able to go through plans and pick one. I know I wouldn't want to do that - I'm at the point now where I don't want to go through the process to pick any kind of provider for any services where I have to do the research...I'm sorry but it's just too tiring at this age). Just more waste turning a program that is pretty bare bones operation, turning it over to multiple insurances agencies to implement...how does that reduce costs? We'll still have to have a medicare agency to police the insurance agencies, etc. And tracking waste and fraud would be a nightmare.

17. the scary thing about Paul Ryan's plan is
5 years from now we will be talking about him and his plan as the sound Republican plan. The "sound and sensible" Republicans that they talk about being targeted for Republican primary challenges were only 20 years ago the "crazy" right wing of the party.

are more extremely to the right, thought both are far right of center. :patriot:

25. There is a difference - the problem is they are both bad - repubs worse
but i don't like being given a choice between bad and worse. doesn't seem like much of a choice since i don't really want either. this kind of good cop/bad cop routine from both parties could continue forever if people don't rise up and fight back against corporate rule - which both parties seem in favor of these days.
