so... as we prepare for 2012 ,what are OUR talking points?
(Take notes,Stan)

Mine will continue to be poverty, homelessness and veteran care.

I will remind Americans as often as possible about how we love our fellow man...and defy them to prove me wrong with the new budget proposed by our friends at the House.

2. Pfft! to talking points.
"What are OUR reasonable positions?" is a better angle.

8. well,reasonable positions haven't gotten us very far.
I've been using those in my area (Stan will vouch for that)
People like him refuse to go beyond the headline.
That is why "talking points" are critical in today's day and age.
We can expand on these points later.
There are over 300K homeless kids in Texas.
children are 33% of medicaid funded Texans- the rest are disabled and elderly.
We want to kill kids, disabled and the elderly and call ourselves pro-life?
Are those "reasonable" enough?

10. I'll live and die with my best approximation of reason.
Captain of the ship and all that.

Talking points are tawdry mimics of reality.

14. Unfortunately, the "best" mechanism is hardship.
"Fortunately," it's knocking at the door.

Not exactly a vote-getter, but at least it's the truth. More than I can say for the other guys.

11. Obama '12....or else.
I really hope we can do better than this.

Wouldn't it be great if we had just a few talking points that sold effective, Progressive reform?

12. If he stands by passively while the Republicans try to gut Medicare, or, worse yet,
actively enables it, then we've already reached "or else".

17. Yeah, it looks like he's dead serious about using that as a main component of his campaign.
I wonder how it's going to float in November 2012, when people are already sick of that meme in April of 2011.

18. Great talking points, except it looks like we're moving away from those things
It looks like to me, and many others, that the Democrats are just as guilty of working against these things as the Republicans are.

It may not be true, but in politics, perception is reality. Until the Democrats can do anything to prove that they support those values we listed, we're screwed. They won't be, they'll move on their high paying jobs in the private sector.
