Did this come from the GOP, the teabaggers, or Obama's camp?
Edited on Tue Apr-05-11 01:48 PM by Lorien

Does it mean that they want him out of office in 2012, or...? If it came from Obama's people then I guess he didn't fire the ad manager who came up with the disastrous "he's turned his back on you" campaign. (Someone posted this on FB and I don't know if they are pro or anti-Obama).

4. No, the friend who posted it is a Green who hasn't said much about Obama
in the past, though I know that they voted for him in 2008.

2. I don't know whether it came from the RNC or the teabaggers
but I would think that it would be fairly obvious that this is NOT coming from the Obama camp.

3. But the GOP usually puts a red circle with a slash through it over the "O"
and Obama's camp keeps talking about getting the grassroots "out on the streets", so maybe it's from them? The "Got his back" was so badly conceived that it could have come from the same group.

9. For one thing, Obama's graphic designers are better than that
and they would never use that hideous font.

18. Agreed. That was the best they could do?
Some faux Fantastic Four logo? Pathetic. Really. Something I expect from the creative side of a Republican.

10. Maybe it's their "new! improved!" sign for 2012 -- thinking they're very clever
to incorporate his logo-thing.

I'm sure it's not Obama. Your Green friend must be disappointed in Obama and wants an alternative.

14. I would think however
that "Out in 2012" wouldn't be a rallying cry for re-electing Obama, though. I wonder if the GOP is putting out all of these ambiguous ads to make people think they're from the Obama camp as a form of sabotage/subliminal-esque advertising?

16. As I said below, The design doesn't feel clunky enough to be from the GOP.
Edited on Tue Apr-05-11 02:26 PM by Lorien
It's got a happy, patriotic palette. If someone were designing an anti-Obama poster I would think that the "In 2012" portion would be in black to make it feel less patriotic.

20. Look closer. The font is wrong, the O logo is wrong, There is no space around the graphic
Edited on Tue Apr-05-11 02:38 PM by emulatorloo
and the Colors are wrong. It is as clunky as they come.

Obama 2012 campaign graphics here:

http://www.barackobama.com/store

Compare them to your friend's graphic. They are not the same style at all.

17. It would have been fairly obvious had I not see the poster
With Obama's back turned towards me. Asking me to get his back while he's turning his on me.

21. The Official Obama website slogan is "Are you in?" and "Join the grassroots; get out
for Obama in 2012". I don't think that it's too much of a stretch to believe that the same marketing guru who came up with the "get his back" sign also thought "Hey, "Out for Obama", that'll make a great slogan! Now how can I make a slick, clean graphic out of that...?". The patriotic colors aren't appropriate for an anti-anything sign.

I asked my friend where he got it. Haven't heard back yet.

12. I'm wondering if the same "got his back" ad manager designed it to mean
"get out on the streets for Obama", because sadly, that wouldn't surprise me (I was an ad minor in college and worked for a large advertising firm in the '80's).

8. Do you seriously believe there is a chance that the Obama campaign
came up with "out in 2012"? Or whatever the "he turned his back on you" campaign thing is?

13. Yes, because of this:
Edited on Tue Apr-05-11 02:25 PM by Lorien

Visually it says the opposite of what they want it to say. The first thing you see is his back. What that says is "Disrespect: I'm ignoring you." The font below it is small enough that it doesn't grab one's attention at all. It's a disaster.

They keep saying "Let's get the grassroots OUT" so is it that much of a stretch to believe that the same designer thought "Hey, I've got an idea...!"

The design in the OP doesn't feel clunky enough to be from the GOP. It's got a happy, patriotic palette. If someone were designing an anti-Obama poster I would think that the "In 2012" portion would be in black to make it feel less patriotic.

(sorry that first image was so huge. Found another).

15. Compare the Font choice. And the spacing around the graphics
Edited on Tue Apr-05-11 02:19 PM by emulatorloo
Your friend's graphic has some standard issue "comes with Windows font"

Additionally look at the Obama "O" logo - your friends graphic is a poor ass copy.

Also there is no space around your friends graphic, it does not have the "breathing room" of the image on the poster

but, as you point out, the Dems haven't had a very good track record lately.

26. OK, I 'm thinking it's from the Greens now, which is a shame
My friend never responded when I asked where it came from, but some of the people posting to his threads have it as their profile pic, and the either have "Green" or "Liberal" under "political views". It didn't seem mean or crude enough to come from the GOP. But the Green's can't go the "Vote for us because the other guys suck more" route either. That's a losing strategy no matter who takes it. Someone out there needs to give us something to vote FOR.
