Democrats are at a decided disadvantage in negotiatons
with Republicans, because the latter simply do not care about governing or the deleterious consequences of their decisions on the majority of American. It's like negotiating with a madman. The GOP keeps offering completely unacceptable "compromses" just to get a temporary bill through to keep government open for another week of negotiations. They engage in this kind of extortion because they really don't care who get hurt, and they know that enough Democrats do that they can get away with it. They really act like sociopaths who shouldn't be walking the streets, let alone be in positions to make decisions that affect the country.

2. The Republicans have nothing to lose because
they know they are not going to get relected. So they are putting all in.

3. "We the top 1%" actively wants to crush America
Their loyalty is not to this country, but to the top 1% in each country around the world. They can jet from bubble to bubble without even being aware of the consequences of their destruction of the country.

15. I think they see it as a badge of courage.
I think they run around bragging about this stuff.

Maybe there's some genetic root to that idea---that the person in the tribe who's not afraid to cull the weak gets the most respect or something. Whatever it is, it's animalistic and cruel.

16. They believe in
the whole landed gentry/divine right ideology. To them there are two classes of people - an aristocracy which they belong to and who deserve to be leaders and the peasants who they should have the right to exploit and who should be grateful for being allowed to live. Having power over other human beings and exploiting that power is their goal in life. The guillotine is too merciful for them.

6. Dems are not at a disadvantage. They just don't put out a message that can be heard.
All polls show that Dems have the people on their side. All they have to do is make a case for what the people really want and let the repubs hurt themselves.

Yet what we get from Dems is silence and capitulation.

11. +1,000,000. The February NBC/WSJ poll showed 81% want to tax the rich more.

7. Yes the rethugs have the advantage because...
They know they are facing a bunch of "WIMPS" in Democrats. More accurately the Dems facing them are all DLC - DINOs who are in undeclared agreement with the rethugs on much of what the rethugs are doing!

8. True, lack of a spine does cause a decided disadvantage.
It's not LIKE negotiating with madmen -- it IS negotiating with madmen. And compromising with them IS hurting the majority of Americans.

14. The Democrats have developed a bad habit of folding before the cards are dealt.
And, then blaming their backers for losing the hand.
