I'm thinking the freshman teabaggers are drooling at the thought of it. By themselves they don't have the power. I think Harry was right: the GOOPers are cowering in the face of these proudly ignorant fuckers.

I'm hoping for a week or so shutdown. It would hurt them more than it helps us. Which is sort of the same thing.

Tea, anyone?

6. Politically it's a win for the good guys--but a lot of people will be
hurting from it.

So I say--I'm glad I'm not the Prez or a congressperson--and that's all I got to give ya, Stinky.

14. I am a federal employee and many of us believe that they will reach a deal
at 11:50 p.m. on Friday night. Still, many of us have canceled trips and other scheduled activities, not wanting to take a chance on the possibility of a shutdown.

The cancelation of flights and hotels and other more important deadlines will cost the federal government greatly even if there is a deal reached on Friday.

21. I think you're fine, since the funds have already been obligated and you can continue work.
Defense contractors, especially, will continue work and will receive pay.

13. The Republicans want the shutdown, and they are using the Teabaggers as pawns to get it.
They can always lay blame at the Teabaggers who come from homogenous districts. The Republicans will protect marginal party members and use the Teabaggers as fodder.

15. Shutdown
I think the political fallout would be a very good barometer of the political direction of the nation. If the general public supports the Republican, we are doomed. If they support the Democrats, there is some home.

The mob is Rome.

17. people will be hurt and the political benefit may not be as great as some are assuming
Everyone seems to think that a shutdown will pay off nicely for us. But history doesn't necessarily support that view. While the shutdown in 95 helped Clinton, its probably an overstatement to suggest that it was responsible for his reelection. Among other things, people tend to forget that even as Clinton was winning, the Repubs were adding two more Senate seats to their majority and despite losing the presidency, they only gave back 9 of the House seats that they picked up in 2004. Indeed, it took the Democrats another decade after the shutdown to finally recapture the House

22. If I was a t-bagger, I'd want it shut down
Were I a t-bagger, I'd be pleased to see government shut down.

I'd just blame Obama, and point out that this shows how ridiculous and useless government is.

Then I'd start negotiating which parts of government I would allow to restart with new funds.

Big win-win for t-baggers. Dreadfully bad for the country, and people, of course.

23. A shutdown could be used as a weapon by Obama and the Democrats.
Democrats could dig in their heels and undo a the tax breaks for the rich if they have the balls to.
