10. the results for Milwaukee seem strange - so few votes for |
|
a metro with almost a million people. Even if only 2/3 are registered voters (I assume fewer than 20% are kids under 18), I would have expected well over 200K voting, given the attention to this election.

30. The rural precincts are much smaller... |
|
Votes get counted quicker so they report sooner. The initial results were most likely mostly rural...republican. It will be a while before the big cities like Madison and Milwaukee report. Cities are democratic.

Hard to figure out. Only 3 counties still have considerable votes to count. It's strange that Milwaukee seems to be the only count where the Democrats/Kloppenberg have a lower percentage than the Governor's race. Makes no sense unless the remaining precincts are Democratic strongholds

With only 13 precincts left in Milwaukee Kloppenberg has 56% of the vote. In Nov. The Democrats got 62%. That and Waukesha County are the only two counties where there is a shift away from the left from November.

Well over 600,000 it appears. Kind of amazes me that they can get but a few thousand to rally in public for their Governor, but they can turn out and give the republicans such strong support. Oh well, I guess Wisconsin has suffered enough yet, either.

Dane, Eau Claire, and a few more boxes from Milwaukee are still not in, though. It's true that the last few tend to be the bigger ones--but "big" in Dane and Milwaukee is a lot bigger than "big" in Waukesha, so hope is not yet lost.

Something weird has been going on--they've been adding to the "precincts reporting" numbers for some counties, but not adding to the vote totals. I think they might be entering stuff so fast that they forget to update the precinct numbers at the same time that they're adding in the vote totals. If that's true, then some of those Waukesha precincts might already be included in the vote totals. It happened earlier with Waukesha, and also with Dane, Milwaukee, and Wood counties.
Edit: Waukesha is now fully reported, but the vote total remains the same.

At least not by more than a scant handful. Those numbers were already included! They just forgot to update the "precincts reported" tally. This is GOOD news...it means that we still have a chance because Dane and Milwaukee BOTH still have precincts left to report!

I suspect that if Kloppenburg pulls this off, Prosser will push for a recount just because that's what EVERYONE does these days. But we still have the biggest precincts from Dane, Milwaukee, and Eau Claire left to report...those could push her final total to a much more comfortable level.

When a republican is ahead 1600, it is a mandate.
When a Democrat is ahead 1600, it is simply a margin of error.

This is SO not over yet.
Unless those votes are already part of the total and they just haven't updated the "precincts reporting" tally, in which case we're screwn.

170. my estimation of precincts remaining |
|
Edited on Wed Apr-06-11 12:00 AM by fishwax
14 strong republican (especially 8 in Ozaukee county) 44 lean (less than 55%) republican (32 in Marathon and 10 in Racine)
16 lean democratic (Mostly Dunn and Sauk) 48 strong democratic (Eau Claire and Milwaukee)
Still looks hopeful overall, but I assume this is headed for a recount ...

That bright red county's now 48/48 reporting.
Strangely, I feel okay nonetheless, since Milwaukee's totals haven't changed. Especially since Prosser's lead just narrowed by half just now.
Oh yeah. Bedtime.

The count stopped just as Gore was set to go into the lead. Somehow he never got the lead again.
An Jim Baker was whining about the recount making "votes go the other way." As if that meant there had to be something wrong.
