I got out of bed to check the Wisconsin results. Welcome to
recountville, Wisconsin. Is James Baker still alive? This election will poison the atmosphere up there for months.

1. This is why we need a paper ballot election like Canada.

7. Wisconsin uses paper ballots that can be recounted.
So we did have a paper ballot election here.

3. No doubt there will be a recount
Don't know whether to be glad that K has forced such a close race, or sad that WI voters didn't vote her in by a landslide.

4. When you consider P practically had a lock on his position,
and only a month ago it was presumed he would win handily,
here comes K out of no where and it is so darned close.
She was not that well known. Shows what can be done.

Democrats should team up and get moving early for the
next election. Waiting until the last monthe killed the
Democrats in 2010.

9. Link to the AP tally, which they keep updating:

The good news is that one precinct that's still out is in Dane County.

The Weekly Standard was claiming this morning that with 12 Milwaukee precincts out then, those would add to Prosser's lead, but the 10 of those 12 that were precincts they said a Wisconsin paper had found were won by Prosser have been added in already and Prosser's lead hasn't widened.

Most of the missing precincts are in counties where Kloppenburg leads.

But someone in the Prosser campaign is already talking about "ballot integrity" for the recount -- and there will be a recount, I'm sure -- so you can bet the Republicans will try to spin this as a stolen election if Kloppenburg wins. And in the meantime they might be trying to galvanize their crazy Tea Party thugs into showing up to "guard" ballots.

Link to that story quoting Prosser's campaign director:

6. A reincarnation of Baker's magic combination of force and treachery
will be on-site, I'm sure.

I do not look forward to the recounts and accusations and machinations and skilled ratfuckery to come.
