A lot of marxist, socialist and communist philosophy blames the "liberals" for kind of being the wall between the people and true socio-political revolution.

But that really depends on how you define liberal.

Talks about how liberal organizations defanged progressivism after WWI and WWII.

He says the function of the liberal class within capitalism has been to support it through providing a kind of safety valve for mass discontent and for discrediting radicals. That function has apparently been deemed unnecessary.
