Don't Ever Let Anyone Tell You to Sit Down Again
Not ever, you guys. Not ever even once.

Journal Sentinel: Credit: Joe Koshollek

A few weeks ago Prosser was gonna cruise to victory. A few weeks ago people who lived next door to Joanne Kloppenburg probably would have had trouble picking her out of a lineup, and now? Now? The whole country knows her name, because in the midst of a revolution electing her became something people could do so they did it. They knocked on doors and drove people to the polls and phonebanked and worked their asses off, and look at that.

These people were alone with their clipboards facing the entire Koch brothers army and they drove them back to the edge of the goddamn cliff. This thing might not be over for days, weeks even, or it might be over by the time I wake up later today, but whatever happens, that isn't nothing. Making something a fight that shouldn't have even been a fight, isn't nothing.

What I would like, what I would really really like here, is for anybody who ever said that protesting was stupid, that it didn't mean anything, that it wouldn't change anything, that it was silly and childish and turned people off and was counterproductive and OMG HIPPIES ETC, to take a look at what happened yesterday and take a lesson, the kind of lesson that sticks.

Standing up for yourself, for your rights, for what you believe, is never silly and it's never childish and you never know what it's going to change, so don't hamstring yourself, for Christ's sakes, don't stop yourself before you start. Fling yourself out into the world and say what is important to you. What else are you here for? You never know how many people will show up to stand beside you. It might be nobody.

3. We were not silenced by the "big guys"
I'm still a little sick and a little shaky from following this last night. But I'm really proud of what we did even if we lose. And that fucker in Milwaukee that bragged about being a Walker clone was crushed!! YES!

4. I REALLY liked this paragraph:
"What I would like, what I would really really like here, is for anybody who ever said that protesting was stupid, that it didn't mean anything, that it wouldn't change anything, that it was silly and childish and turned people off and was counterproductive and OMG HIPPIES ETC, to take a look at what happened yesterday and take a lesson, the kind of lesson that sticks."

How many times have we heard the naysayers on DU tell us that all this protesting is a complete waste of time and that protesting never changes anything? As a DFH I'm simply dumbfounded when I see this on a "progressive" website.

5. I think we also need to emphasize "EVERY VOTE COUNTS"!
Kloppenburg won by 232 votes! 232....232....repeat....232 Every Vote Counts!
