Ryan's "plan" nothing more than a sop to the Teabaggers. |
|
Boehner and the Repub leadership understand that they cannot get everything the Teabaggers want in these budget negotiations. If they shut down the government, they will lose. So they needed a back- up plan that will keep the Teabaggers in their flock. That is why Ryan came out with a totally unrealistic and unbelievable proposal to cut the deficit by $6 trillion dollars and balance the budget in 10 years. The more unbelievable the proposal, the more believable it is to the Teabaggers. The entire purpose of the Ryan plan is to keep the Teabaggers under the Republican tent so they can beat Barack Obama in the next election, or so they think.

2. No, they would prefer to run one of their own... |
|
...like Michele Bachman or Mike Pence. The Republican establishment is having a difficult time keeping the teabaggers under control. They are why the Repubs are threatening a "shutdown". They want more cuts than Boehner is able to give them.

that if the tantrum throwers known as teabaggers don't get what they want they'll be willing to throw their support to a certain to fail third party bid. Kind of like the old days and Ross Perot.
If they can peel off a commonly known puke teabagger like Bachmann or Ron/Rand Paul they may get their wish.
I for one would probably support a puke third party onto any ticket in the country.

If Ryan stops short, David Brooks head is going to be lodged somewhere between Ryans ileum and duodenum.
I notice Brooks conveniently forgets to mention all the tax breaks for corporations and rich folks that would add billions onto every budget for 10 years. He also forgot the little thing that Ryan stole from the Heritage foundation that would "assume" a <4% unemployment rate for the next 20 years.
I always thought Brooks put a bit more effort into his pieces.

9. I think you're taking it much too lightly. It's a blueprint. |
|
Should the repubs take the senate next election this is a very real direction.

11. Don't think so. It is intended to pull the entire discussion to the right, so that |
|
when cuts to medicare, aid to the poor, education, health research etc happen the public will be relieved these programs weren't gutted entirely. This has been going on for years...pulling the discussion and congress to the right. Issue by issue, the public is left of the politicians. But what the MSM and politicians get done together is what the big money wants.

12. Not really this must be voted on first with no amendments |
|
according to Ezra Klein (if I heard correctly). There are a lot in the GOP that do not want to go on the record supporting abolishing Medicare and the tea party.
