TPM & NBC affiliate in Milwaukee (and now AP) say last precinct is in & Kloppenburg has WON!

http://www.todaystmj4.com/news/local/119299974.html

From the NBC affiliate:

Jefferson County Clerk Barbara Cook told Newsradio 620 WTMJ that Prosser had received 366 votes in the final municipality to report, the Town of Lake Mills, while Kloppenburg had 364 votes, with 24 hand-written votes yet to be counted.

After factoring in the the Journal Sentinel and Associated Press report that Kloppenburg held an unofficial 235 vote lead on Prosser before the Town of Lake Mills tally, that gives the Kloppenburg camp at least a 209-vote edge.

:woohoo:

Editing to add that the AP page tracking the votes is now showing all precincts counted and Kloppenburg winning by 204 votes. They just updated it:

1. Congratulations to Wisconsin's new Supreme Court justice!
Who just became only the 6th challenger in more than 150 years to unseat an incumbent Supreme Court justice!

:toast:

9. More on why this is historic, from a Journal Sentinel article that hasn't been updated yet
http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/119308059.html

At the moment that story is still saying one precinct is out -- that should be changed soon.

But the last paragraph remains the same:

Just five Wisconsin Supreme Court justices have been unseated by challengers since the court was created in 1852 - Samuel Crawford in 1855; Robert M. Bashford in 1908; James Ward Rector in 1947; George R. Currie in 1967; and Butler in 2008.

2. Now is the time for David Prosser to follow the example of our own John Kerry and concede.
100 to 1 bet says he doesn't. This is bringing back bad memories. Why do only democrats concede before all the votes are counted?

4. I don't think the Kochs and Scott Walker would let him concede.
Much of his advertising came from a Koch front group headed by a former Walker intern, as I posted yesterday or the day before.

11. or he could follow the example of our own Al Franken
I have no problem with him requesting a recount, we'd want her to do it...we'd all do it.

This close? You make sure it's right.

12. Wow, talk about thin "skin of one's teeth" margin of victory, but congrats to Justice Kloppenberg!!
Considering all that has happened and still is happening within the states surrounding the Great Lakes, looks like a ray of sunshine is finally peeking through this past winter's political gloom, and gives me more hope for Dems' chances in the '12 elections, as well as perhaps potential recall petitions being numerous and very successful prior to then.

:)
