The 'voting doesn't matter' and 'corporations control our democracy' canards take yet ANOTHER hit!
Edited on Wed Apr-06-11 02:48 PM by UrbScotty
Kloppenburg's lead is 204 votes out of 1,479,976 cast.

A recount seems certain.

This is PEOPLE POWER in action!

Our country depends on ALL OF US to act, organize, and VOTE! No matter what we think of the candidates for any given office, someone WILL be elected.

It is our moral duty to support progressives running for office, to defeat blue dogs in primaries and thump the Party of Fail in general elections!

1. I don't see it.
A "close" concession.

Aka: A release valve

2. That's great, the last I checked last night Kloppenburg
was behind 5000 votes. I hope it holds up in the recount.

3. Are you really saying that we don't have a challenge in
political battles with Big Corporate Money and the likes of the Koch Brothers?

6. NO! That's nowhere near what I said.
What I said is that, corporations do not have control of our democracy.

That's different from saying they're not a threat. They are, of course.

What I'm saying is that, no matter the results, this proves that voting DOES matter.

I never said they weren't trying to rig it.

Okay, fair enough. Amends then on the post...
There's just so much establishment apologizing on this site, of late, it's hard to know what side some of the posters are on.

Yes, voting does still matter -- if everyone did it all the time, it could kind of call one of their bluffs. Of course, they have many other tricks up their sleeves when "democracy" occasionally gets "out of hand..."

10. First of all, he's FAR more successful than almost any modern President.
And, might I say, FAR more progressive than most people realize.

Second, I never said that corporations have NO control - what I said is that they don't have ABSOLUTE control.

I think perhaps you underestimate corporate power, but nonetheless, K & R because the vote DOES count.
