Close elections are not that uncommon. Even this close.

population at all, and isn't intended to. This country is far more evenly-divided politically than most people imagine. It's a fine line that wins elections. There are no landslides any more.

end up in a tie...the chances must be astronomical that 1.5 million people show up to vote...and the almost split the vote down the middle. Shows that EVERY VOTE COUNTS.

12. Missed my district last year...

Altschuler, a newbie, challenged Tim Bishop in NY1 and it took weeks of recounts and legal tangles to declare Bishop the winner by a couple of hundred votes.

Bishop had NEVER had a problem fending off challengers before, but the teabaggers were highly motivated.

(So, to the purists: Don't even THINK of not voting any time soon to "teach someone a lesson" or because "my vote has to be earned"-- anyone who does that is simply an ignorant tool of teabaggery)
