Seems reasonable to me. They ought to take a hit too. Anytime they advocate cuts in salaries of workers, they need to adjust their own paychecks accordingly.

If soldiers must serve in combat without pay, then Senators and Congressmen should sacrifice too.

Otherwise I will doubt their sincerity, start remembering stuff like what happened in the Shutdown of 95. Didn't Gingrich shut down the government last time because he was pissed he had to sit in the back of Air Force One? The right never does anything for a good reason, just panders to their own selfish interests and egos or lines their pockets like thieves.

These very same ones who dishonor our flag by pinning it onto their lapels every day as they work to destroy the country. Who dare to call themselves patriots when they abandon their responsibilities in this silly and dangerous fashion.

A government that would allow itself to shut down over political squabbles is a government that has reneged on its commitment to the nation and its people. This is a government that has ceased to function and arguably ought to cease to exist. It can and should be replaced when it can no longer do its job. How dare they think they can simply shut it down, hold us all hostage to their whims and demands. They would overturn their own government rather than do the work they were elected to do.

It is unconscionable, an offense so egregious, I find myself questioning my allegiance to such a government. I cannot imagine the Founding Fathers of this nation entrusting the Constitution to people who would destroy America from within.

Maybe before we Americans embark on the road to ruin, we should pause momentarily and remind ourselves how incompetent we look, what an embarrassment.

by lobbyists.

My wife wanted to know in the event that the government shuts down if the banks will still be open. I was able to reassure her that they would, but that there would be no federal oversight. Her deposits might very well end up in the Koch brothers' accounts.

6. I was just reading about this...
I'll post the link if I can find it. But congress will get paid, but it is at each congressperson's digression as to who and how much of their staff they need. I noticed this because I couldn't help but think that if the repukes are serious about saving money, they'd all send their staffs packing during a shutdown and how much you wanna bet they won't?
