Money earmarked to help the homeless must be used or will be taken back (Ohio)
Posted: 04/06/2011

CLEVELAND - Three Northeast Ohio cities were given money to help people on the brink of homelessness, but time is running out to use that funding.

There are roughly 20,000 people in Cuyahoga County with no place to call home. Richard, who doesn't want his last name used, was one of the people behind that statistic. The Cleveland Heights man lost his job, then was evicted from his home. He spent a few nights sleeping outside.

But, there are federal dollars that might have been able to prevent that difficult time.

"It's extremely frustrating. I know this money was available," said Richard.
