1. Don't forget the corporate and wealthy tax cuts! |
|
It must be great having money and able to buy politicians so you can get more money while watching the masses suffer.

3. Its not like that's important to progressives. If its not about the middleclass, its no big deal. |
|
I fully expect cuts like this to go through.

amount of tax breaks to the richest is beyond immoral. I can accept program cuts, but taxes on the rich must be raised to where a just society would have those tax rates.

the money paid to the poor supports the middle class. But luckily Ryan will give the money to those who need it. The rich.

7. The Ryan Plan's biggest flaw is it continues the Bush tax cuts to the rich |
|
We can sit around and talk about budget cuts all day long, but there is NO WAY WHATSOEVER they can fix the deficit problem with no tax increases.
The Repukes like to confuse macro and micro economics, so let's put a micro spin on this: Joe Citizen works hard and provides for his family. This is getting harder to do because the price of everything keeps going up. Joe and his family can do a lot of things to try to economize--they can turn off cable TV, quit calling Joe's mom on Sundays, not use the air conditioner, cut ice cream out of their diets--but the simple fact is, Joe and his family will still be in a world of hurt unless and until Mary gets a job. If Joe and his family need more money to solve their fiscal problems, the only way they are going to solve their fiscal problems is to bring in more money.
It's the same way with America. RIght now America needs more money. Cutting the budget won't solve the need for more money, in part because the Republicans don't want to cut the things that cost serious money--like defense. The only way we are going to get more money is to raise taxes, and the people who need their taxes raised are the rich.

8. This is the natural result... |
|
...of the thinking that has been drilled into the population by the fat cats: that the rich are "productive members of society" and the poor are "non productive" and "should not get handouts".
You'll hear people who belong to the lower middle class, or even the working poor, espousing such views. "I work hard, why should *they* get a handout?" Of course the same people take the "handouts" when they need them (e.g., not-Joe the not-plumber, admitting that he got welfare and food stamps but "no one ever helped me out").
It goes to show the power of brainwashing to remove any sense of cognitive dissonance. People just parrot these oh, so moral-sounding platitudes and make no connection, none whatsoever, to their own lives. Because it would hurt too much to admit that, to the rulers, they are among the non-productive members of society, no matter how hard they work. Because if they were "productive", they'd be rich too.
We are in upside-down world, and it ain't getting better.
